REPORTING TO:    Purchasing Manager

 

JOB ROLE:   

Street Crane is the UK’s largest producer of overhead cranes and one of world’s volume hoist manufacturers with more than 100 distributors globally.   We currently have a vacancy for a Buyer in our busy Purchasing Department reporting to the Purchasing Manager.  You will be a motivated and personable individual who can work on their own initiative in a high-pressured environment.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Responsible for order placement and fulfilment
    • Control and negotiation of costs
    • Producing supply schedules to support continuity of supply
    • Build strong personal and professional relationships with suppliers and internal customers
    • Negotiating with suppliers to agree prices, quantities, and delivery schedules
    • Maintain stock levels as required
    • Identification & integration of new suppliers
    • Collecting and analysing data to help predict trends
    • Identifying quality standards and ensuring that all products meet those standards
    • At all times comply with company policies and procedures.

 

EDUCATION, KEY SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
    • Ideally MCIPS qualified
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a buying capacity preferably in an engineering environment
    • Effective negotiator
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Good time management with ability to manage busy workload
    • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously
    • Determined and resilient character
    • Sound knowledge of MRP and computer systems
